Nikolai Hopland makes ‘dream’ Leeds United transfer admission
Top Norwegian prospect Nikolai Hopland has claimed it would be a “dream” to sign for Leeds United.
Having impressed for SC Heerenveen in the Eredivisie, Hopland has made a name for himself as one of Norway’s hottest prospects.
The 20-year-old defender, usually operating as a centre-back, has been a regular at Under-21 level for his country since making his debut in October 2023.
In a recent interview with Voetbal Primeur (15 November), Hopland revealed that he dreams of signing for Leeds United over anyone else.
He said: “People often laugh when I say this, but since I was four, it’s always been Leeds United. Together with my father, I’ve been there about twenty times. I think I have every shirt they’ve had in the last fifteen years in my closet and I still watch almost every game, if it works out with our own schedule.
“A really great club. It’s my dream to play for them one day and I’ll do everything I can to make that dream come true.”
Nikolai Hopland claims showcase Leeds United pull
Despite being in the Championship, Leeds are evidently still one of the most sought after clubs in the country and are an attractive proposition to players across Europe.
Arguably, the Whites are the biggest club outside of the EFL and they will be able to attract players that other sides in the Championship simply couldn’t.
With what is expected to be a busy January transfer window for Leeds, they will have the ability to use their pull and attract top players to Elland Road to aid their promotion push with the future goal of Premier League football enticing.

Throughout the years, Leeds have already demonstrated their pulling power, having concluded deals for the likes of Willy Gnonto and Joel Piroe in recent windows despite interest from several other big clubs.
Whether Hopland emerges as a target for Leeds in the future is unknown, but his impressive performances in Holland his desire to play for the Whites certainly adds fuel to the fire.
In other Leeds United news, Manor Solomon disappointed when captaining Israel in their encounter with France on Thursday and Daniel Farke’s decision to drop him against Millwall seems justified.
