Nicolo Zaniolo keen on Leeds United deadline-day move, PL clubs also interested – report

AS Roma star Nicolo Zaniolo is keen on a move to Leeds United and has made it clear that he “likes the destination”, according to Italian outlet CalcioMercato.

The 23-year-old is set for a move from AS Roma with the club keen to get rid with only over a year left on his contract at the Stadio Olimpico and the Whites have been interested in the forward’s services over the past few days.

It’s been reported [Retesport, 31 January] that Leeds had a loan approach for the Italian international knocked back but are prepared to return to the table with another offer in the next few hours.

And the player seems keen on the idea, according to Italian media outlet CalcioMercato [31 January] who report that the 23-year-old superstar “likes the Leeds destination” and is one of the many proposals put forward to him by his agent.

However, the report reveals that the Whites aren’t the only Premier League club interested with both Everton and Southampton also keeping tabs on his situation along with RB Leipzig and AC Milan.

Too good to be true

The Whites have enjoyed a sensation transfer window so far completing deals for Maximilian Wober, Georginio Rutter, Weston McKennie and young defender Diego Monteiro

And it seems as if the Yorkshire outfit aren’t stopping there, with their interest in the Italian superstar forward and signing him could prove the icing on the cake for Leeds.

Like McKennie, Zaniolo possesses tremendous European and international pedigree becoming one of the star players in his position because of his unique qualities in the attack. The Whites could do with some added sprinkle of quality in the forward positions and Zaniolo certainly fits the bill.

However, it’s a deal which seems too good to be true for the Leeds fans, and could well just be that. While the player reportedly likes the idea of Elland Road, the fact that Leipzig and AC Milan are interested also, he may be swayed by their participation in European competition rather than a relegation battle with Leeds.
