Newcastle retain ‘strong interest’ in Leeds United winger Jack Harrison – Luke Edwards

Newcastle United are keeping their interest in signing Leeds United winger Jack Harrison this summer, according to journalist Luke Edwards.

The 25-year-old is said to be on the radar of the Magpies but the Daily Mail earlier reported that they are no longer interested in the Englishman.

Edwards, in a tweet on Saturday, July 23, stated that even though Leeds are not making it easy to let the player leave, the Toon Army are still interested in acquiring the player.

In a season full of disappointments, we can safely say that Harrison was one of the few bright sparks for Leeds alongside Raphinha, who has left the club this summer.

In the 2021-22 season, the winger scored 10 goals in all competitions and eight of them came in the Premier League.

He averaged 1.2 shots, 1.2 key passes, 0.6 long balls, had a pass completion rate of 70.5% and had an average rating of 6.67, according to Whoscored.

Those numbers show that he is pivotal for Leeds’ prospect for the next season and manager Jesse Marsch must do all he could to ensure that the club will not lose another key player in the ongoing transfer window.

Harrison, who joined the club permanently in the summer of 2021, has already played 166 matches for his current club across all competitions where he has managed to score 28 times and provided 22 assists [Transfermarkt].
