Newcastle interest not advanced for Leeds United striker target Arnaud Kalimuendo
Newcastle United are reportedly not as keen on signing PSG striker Arnaud Kalimuendo as Leeds United this summer.
According to CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs, Leeds are in hot pursuit of the 20-year-old attacker this summer.
Jacobs previously reported that the Ligue 1 side could be willing to cash in on his services for £20million.
Via Twitter, he wrote, “Leeds remain very interested in Arnaud Kalimuendo but a deal is not a given even with Hugo Ekitike’s arrival in Paris. Told Kalimuendo has impressed Galtier. He’s in the squad for the Japan pre-season tour and doing all he can to stay in Paris.
“High level of interest, for both permanent and loan deals. Although PSG open to offers, nothing accepted yet and club plan to take their time. Kalimuendo could still be in squad if Icardi goes. Leeds actively pursuing but Newcastle haven’t advanced interest any further just yet.”

Relying on Patrick Bamford for another season cannot be a valid plan of action for the 2022/23 campaign with relegation still a possibility.
The side is arguably weaker than it was last season and until a quality striker and left-back isn’t signed, Leeds will still be in the mix for relegation.
In Kalimuendo, they’ll be getting a striker who’s 20 and is an upgrade on all the other number nines at the club.
He will not cost too much either and will fit perfectly into the Whites’ budget – given the money they’ve generated from the Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips sales.
Times journalist Jacque Talbot is also an admirer of the Frenchman.
He told Give Me Sport, “He’d be absolutely amazing [for the club he signs]. I think Luis Campos has put together a list of around 15 players, with (Presnel) Kimpembe being one, who are able to leave and just really look to do a bit of a transformation and have a bit of an identity.”
Even if PSG are unwilling to sell him permanently, a loan move could be on the cards and Leeds must explore all avenues.
In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay claims that a midfielder who was admired by Marcelo Bielsa is set to leave this summer.
