The International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) has named Raphinha as the most valuable player at Leeds United.
CIES specialise in determining the value of footballers and they have taken a look at which player is the most valuable asset to every Premier League club.
In a report released on Monday, CIES declared that Raphinha was the most valuable asset to the club and even estimated his worth.
The report claims Raphinha is worth between £25million and £35million though Leeds fans, and more importantly the club, will value the Brazilian a lot higher than that after a sparkling breakthrough Premier League season.
For context, the report claims Raphinha is worth more than Newcastle’s Alan Saint-Maximin and Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze.
However, Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish and Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse are estimated to be worth more than Raphinha and that doesn’t quite sit right with us.
Raphinha is worth so much more than that but this report is looking purely at the monetary value of the player, rather than how much it will take to get Leeds to sell.
Even still, it feels like £35million is still cheap for a player who has taken to the Premier League with ease and is still improving week on week.
If Raphinha was to go in the near future we’d be wanting at least double that figure if not more.
Six goals and five assists have come in 24 Premier League outings for the 24-year-old this season but it is what he gives us going forward that is hard to monetise.
Any club that offers £35million for Raph would be laughed out of the building and told to come back when they had a real offer.
Though outlets like UOL continue to link Raphinha with a move to Manchester United this summer.
It is worth noting that Raphinha is our most valuable player even though we have other top assets like Patrick Bamford and Illan Meslier.
Perhaps will we see their value rise in the near future as they continue to impress.
In other Leeds United news, this Whites player’s development could be hampered after a major club update.
