New Leeds United signing mooted to prevent Archie Gray from ‘burning out’
Leeds United “need cover” to help prevent Archie Gray from “burning out,” according to The Yorkshire Post journalist Stuart Rayner.
The 17-year-old midfielder has played every minute possible under new Whites manager Daniel Farke so far this season.
Leeds have signed Ethan Ampadu in that area, but have lost Weston McKennie, Marc Roca, Tyler Adams and Adam Forshaw this summer.

New signing Ampadu has also played every minute possible from the club’s first four matches of the new season; three in the Championship and one in the League Cup.
“Ampadu and Archie Gray look an excellent midfield partnership but the latter is 17, they need cover to prevent him burning out,” Rayner wrote for The Yorkshire Post.

New faces needed
It’s clear that having lost so many players this summer, the Whites need new faces all over the pitch, not just in midfield.
But that is an area that Farke may prioritise in the coming days given the long list of midfielders that have left Elland Road in recent months.
McKennie has returned to parent club Juventus, with Roca joining Spanish side Real Betis on a season-long loan. Forshaw meanwhile left upon the expiry of his contract.
There had been some hope that star man Adams would stay at Elland Road for another season, but the USA international has joined Premier League outfit Bournemouth.
All of that means that Farke needs a reliable and perhaps experienced player in midfield to help out this season, even if Ampadu and Gray continue to be his desired duo in there.
Making the situation more complicated is that Ampadu may be needed in central defence on occasion, increasing the need for a new midfielder.
