Neil Warnock slams ‘rubbish’ Farke decision ahead of Sheffield United v Leeds

Neil Warnock hasn’t held back in his view of a controversial decision ahead of Leeds United’s Championship clash with Sheffield United.

The Whites head into Monday’s meeting at Bramall Lane with a chance to take a huge step towards automatic promotion, sat four points clear of third place ahead of their most difficult match remaining.

Leeds came back from the dead to beat Sunderland 2-1 with the very last action of the game last time out, and this gives them the chance to move five points above the Blades at the Championship summit.

However, not only are Daniel Farke‘s side heading to South Yorkshire to face a side who’ve only lost once so far this season, they’re also set to do so while missing a key figure in the dugout at Bramall Lane.

Daniel Farke ban at Leeds United blasted by Neil Warnock

Previewing Monday’s top of the table clash on talkSPORT (24 February, 9:40am), former Leeds and Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock wasn’t happy that Farke won’t be in the dugout at Bramall Lane.

Farke is set to serve a one-match touchline ban following his yellow card in the aftermath of Pascal Struijk’s winning goal against Sunderland, as he and his players spilled out onto the Elland Road pitch.

If not for Sheffield United’s points deduction, they’d be level with Leeds at the top of the Championship

Warnock said: “I do like Daniel; I was gutted when he got booked – I know it’s the laws of the game, and by the law he’s got to get booked by going on the pitch, but what a load of rubbish.

“Ninety-second minute, second goal and you just go 10 yards on the pitch and celebrate with your players? He’s not doing anything untoward.”

Leeds can win without Farke v Sheffield United

It’s hardly like Farke has been banished from the city of Sheffield ahead of this highly-anticipated Championship clash; the German will instead be sat in the stands rather than on the touchline.

That means he’ll still be able to freely communicate with his coaching staff throughout Monday’s match, making changes such as substitutions and formational tweaks if needed while his side play on as normal.

There’s an argument to suggest that from his newfound vantage point, Farke will in fact have a better view of the game playing out in front of him, potentially spotting things that Chris Wilder doesn’t catch.

Either way, Monday night’s clash in South Yorkshire is shaping up to be one of the matches of the season in the second tier, and with or without Farke barking instructions in their ears, Leeds’ players will be confident of coming away with the points.
