Neil Warnock shares Leeds United promotion prediction live on talkSPORT, expects Elland Road to be ‘rocking’

Leeds United are one of the favourites to get promoted from the Championship next season, according to Neil Warnock.

The Whites were relegated from the Premier League last season and will return to the Championship under the guidance of Daniel Farke, who will look to navigate his new club back into England’s top flight.

And former Leeds manager Warnock, who now manages their Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town, believes it will be the three relegated teams fighting for automatic promotion.

“You can’t look any further than the three relegated teams really. You look at the money that they’ve spent – I know Leicester have sold James Maddison but they spent about £20million on players, Leeds, and Southampton look a good side,” Warnock told talkSPORT (3 August, 8:55 am) when asked who he thinks will make the biggest moves in the division this year.

“I’m really looking forward to it, Elland Road with a full house – they’ll be rocking them.”

Mind games

Warnock is known as one of the biggest characters in English football and is perhaps playing some friendly mind games before the season gets underway, reminding his former club that they are one of the bigger sides in the Championship and the pressure is on them.

Of course, the three teams who are relegated from the Premier League will often be tipped to fight near the top of the division below the following year, although as shown in the past, it doesn’t always work out that way.

Many teams exit the Premier League and take a while to return, such as Nottingham Forest and Leeds previously, and the Whites will be hoping history doesn’t repeat itself.

With Farke at the helm, a manager who has successfully guided Norwich out of the Championship on two separate occasions, supporters will be confident of their chances, but there are no guarantees in football.

Except for the fact that Warnock can’t wait for his return to Elland Road.

In other Leeds United news, the club are considering a contract offer for a free agent.
