Neil Warnock astonished at ‘horrific’ Leeds United events

Leeds United have a battle on their hands as they aim to achieve Premier League promotion.

Daniel Farke is under pressure as his Leeds side squandered a huge lead at the top of the table, and now face five crucial games to try and finish in the top two automatic promotion places.

Leeds remained in the Championship after squandering a lead last season and losing the play-off final to Southampton, and another season in the second division would be incredibly frustrating.

Former Leeds manager Neil Warnock has now had his say on their recent form, with an important game against Preston coming up this weekend.

Neil Warnock slams refereeing decisions in Leeds matches

Warnock has now defended Leeds despite their poor Championship form, and has hit out at the refereeing decisions handed to his former side.

“Everybody says Leeds faltered, but they’ve had some horrific decisions against them lately,” he told talkSPORT.

“Two good goals disallowed the other night, but thankfully they got there in the end.”

Leeds had two goals disallowed for offside against Middlesbrough, but a Dan James goal meant that they returned to the summit of the Championship.

Leeds cannot afford more slip-ups in promotion battle

There will be plenty of focus on Leeds’ performances, as well as the decisions given for or against them in the final weeks of the season, given the fine margins between the top three teams.

Leeds are just two points ahead of Sheffield United in third place, and while their competitors are set to face each other, with the Blades playing against Burnley next week, more dropped points for Farke could be fatal.

If Leeds can now go on a winning run and maintain their place at the top, they will secure promotion to the Premier League, but they will be wary that one bad refereeing decision or error at the back could jeopardise their whole season.

Should Leeds fail to go up, there will be huge concern that they may lose their best players, who had otherwise set the pace as the top scorers in the division.
