Neil Redfearn blown away by what ‘outstanding’ Dan James did in Leeds United win v Plymouth
Neil Redfearn has waxed lyrical about Dan James after his goalscoring performance for Leeds United against Plymouth on Saturday.
James opened the scoring for the Whites as they thrashed Wayne Rooney’s side 3-0 in the Championship at Elland Road on Saturday, 2 November.
Redfearn was blown away by how the Wales international managed to find the back of the net from distance despite being off balance.
The former manager also hailed James’ performance as “outstanding”, picking him out as one of Leeds’ standout players.
“[James was] slightly off balance by the challenges that were coming into him, so he was almost leaning back as he was striking the ball, but he still managed to control it and strike it with pace right into the top left-hand corner of the goal and the goalkeeper had absolutely no chance”, Redfearn said on BBC Radio Leeds (2 November).
“He was one of the standout performers again today. Just his pace and his touch in the final third, took his goal superbly well, could have had others, created chances, pulled a lot of great balls back into that second six-yard box.
“I thought he was outstanding and worthy of his goal.”
Dan James shines in Leeds United win v Plymouth
The stunner against Plymouth was only James’ second goal of the season and he will hope that it will help him kickstart his campaign.
James netted in Leeds United’s 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday in August, but was then sidelined for six games due to a hamstring injury.
Having made his way back into Daniel Farke’s starting XI, he now looks a player determined to return to his best, as evidenced by his performance against Plymouth.
Apart from giving the Whites the lead, the Welshman was also heavily involved in Brenden Aaronson’s goal that put the team 3-0 up eight minutes later.

With the hosts cruising, Farke made the sensible decision of taking James off in the 66th minute, replacing him with Manor Solomon.
It will hopefully allow the winger to rest up and be ready to cause headaches to the Millwall defenders at The Den on Wednesday (6 November).
In other Leeds United news, Ilia Gruev could be out for up to six months as a new injury verdict emerges.
