Neil Moxley tears Junior Firpo to shreds after ‘senseless’ Leeds United moment v Newcastle
The Sunday Mirror’s Neil Moxley has torn Junior Firpo to shreds after the Leeds United defender gave away a penalty against Newcastle United.
The left-back was penalised for a handball in the latter stages of the game, with Callum Wilson tucking away his second penalty of the afternoon.
Writing in his latest column for The Mirror, Moxley was scathing of the Leeds man’s part in the incident.

“Wilson did it again after Junior Firpo’s senseless handball gifted the visitors another opportunity from 12 yards,” he wrote (Sunday Mirror, pg 69, 14 May).
Daft
It was such a daft moment from Firpo and he’s done himself no favours. What exactly was he trying to do? It’s moments like this which will define Leeds’ season. Had Patrick Bamford scored his spot kick, Max Wober refrained from clearing out Alexander Isak and Firpo kept his hand down, we would probably be talking about three points.
Allardyce will be fuming at the manner of the draw. Leeds were good value and should’ve been ahead at half-time. However, it’s vital the players regroup for next Sunday’s clash against West Ham United. The Hammers will be safe by then and that could see David Moyes rest players ahead of a potential European final.

West Ham have been in indifferent form during the 2022/23 season and are certainly capable of putting in a poor performance every once in a while.
If Leeds can replicate their performances from their last two matches, there’s every chance they can head to East London and pick up a positive result.
