Neil Moxley tears Jesse Marsch to shreds in newspaper column after what he said at Leeds United

The Sunday People’s Neil Moxley has torn Jesse Marsch to shreds after what the American said whilst he was head coach at Leeds United.

The American was sacked after Leeds were beaten 1-0 by Nottingham Forest at the City Ground, a result which left the Whites on the brink of the relegation zone.

Moxley has since slammed the 49-year-old in his latest column for using “guff” phrases during his tenure in the Elland Road hot seat.

“He was forever talking about how he was always working towards some higher plan. And measuring his players against it. Twaddle. Phrases like ‘having belief’ and ‘staying together’ are yet more guff from the Marsch playbook,” wrote Moxley (Sunday People, page 57, 12 February).

Right move

Some of Marsch’s ideas and comments did seem a bit surreal at times, and not suited to the pressures and demands of being Leeds United’s head coach. In fact, it felt like he was unaware of the challenge. Being the manager of the Whites should not be taken lightly.

Leeds are one of the biggest clubs in the country and they need a strong character in the dugout. As much as Marsch seemed like a nice person, his ideas and the way he came across weren’t the right fit. Now, the board have to act quickly to ensure a new manager is in the hot seat for the huge relegation clash against Everton on Saturday (18 February).

Leeds United

It’s been a luckless task to date. Andoni Iraola has turned down the chance to move to the Premier League, Arne Slot is staying at Feyenoord and Carlos Corberan has opted to sign a contract extension at West Brom. Quite where the Leeds board turn next remains to be seen.
