Nahitan Nandez price could drop after reported Leeds United interest in January

Leeds United reportedly wanted to sign Nahitan Nandez in January, and he would be in demand in the summer transfer window as well.

The president of Cagliari, Tommaso Giulini, will try to re-open negotiations with Inter Milan. A host of clubs were interested in him, including the Whites.

According to a report from Calciomercato, Nandez has an asking price of €35m (£29.3m), but it could be dropped. Having said that, there’s no guarantee that it will surely drop.

Nandez is one player who has been a long-term for the Yorkshire club.

During the January transfer window, Calciomercato reported that Nandez is keen to leave the Italian outfit, but the move didn’t materialise.

The Sardinia-based news outlet, La Nuova Sardegna, claimed in January that Leeds remained the only team in the race to sign the Uruguayan.

He has somewhat struggled a bit this season, managing only 17 league appearances. However, injuries and covid did hamper his participation.

Nandez is primarily a defensive midfielder. This is one area the Whites desperately need to bolster this summer, but whether they return for him remains to be seen.

The Whites have other targets as well, like Brenden Aaronson, and it is up to Jesse Marsch to take a hard look at the squad and make necessary changes.

Leeds are currently fighting for survival and any transfer plan can only take place depending on where they finish at the end of the season.
