Switzerland boss wowed by what Isaac Schmidt did away from Leeds United
Isaac Schmidt has made just nine appearances for Leeds United since joining from Swiss outfit St Gallen last summer.
But that did not prevent Switzerland boss Murat Yakin from handing the 25-year-old his senior international debut on Friday.
Schmidt is yet to make his full debut in the Championship amid competition at right-back from fellow summer signing Jayden Bogle.
The Swiss international’s last outing for the Whites came back on 8 February, when they were knocked out of the FA Cup by Millwall.

Schmidt wows for Switzerland v Northern Ireland
Switzerland were held to a 1-1 draw by Northern Ireland on Friday night, with Schmidt featuring for 68 minutes.
Switzerland boss Yakin was impressed by the Leeds man’s efforts and told Swiss outlet Blick [23 March]: “I really liked Isaac.
“He was very agile, won practically all of his challenges, and also made a few offensive contributions.”
Schmidt could be in action for Yakin’s side once again on Tuesday, when they host Luxembourg in another international friendly.

Schmidt will have done his Leeds chances no harm with international exploits
Farke has consistently favoured Bogle’s services this season over that of Schmidt, which is epitomised by the fact that the Switzerland international has not made a Championship start since moving to Elland Road.

Few could argue with Farke’s decision as Bogle has been a real asset for the West Yorkshire giants both defensively and in attacking areas, having notched five goals and two assists in the second tier.
But by impressing Switzerland boss Yakin in the current international break, Schmidt has proven his ability to deliver at a high level, which could give the Whites boss food for thought.
Leeds sit top of the Championship and have just eight games remaining amid their quest to return to the Premier League at the second time of asking.
At such a pivotal stage of the campaign now, Farke may look to rotate his squad, and Schmidt has shown that he could be a valuable asset while away with Switzerland.
