MOT View: Leeds handed boost with Derby ready to consider January offer for Louie Sibley
Leeds United want to bolster their squad in the January window, and they have been handed a massive boost amid the issues at Derby County.
According to Sportsmail, offers would now be considered for their players amid their financial woes, and Louie Sibley will now almost certainly be the subject of renewed bids.
The 20-year-old central midfielder is a player that has remained on the radar of the Elland Road outfit, and they have a great chance to finally get their man.
The Athletic’s Phil Hay claimed on the Phil Hay Show podcast in January 2021 that Sibley “is another young prospect they admire that they’re keeping their eye on,” and the links have refused to go away since.
With Derby badly in need of cash after entering administration, most of their valued players could be snapped up on bargain deals, and Leeds should not hesitate to move.
The Mirror reported earlier this week that director of football Victor Orta is looking at three or four central midfielders in the hope of landing at least one, and an opportunity has presented itself.
Given their injuries woes, the west Yorkshire outfit could do with quality players in the middle of the park, and the youngster could come in and have an impact on Marcelo Bielsa’s first-team squad.
Sibley has featured in 16 games across all competitions this season, scoring once.
He has featured in 55 Championship games for the Rams, scoring four goals and assisting twice, and Leeds could do with such a player full of potential.
