MOT View: Latest Ben White Instagram post could offer big hint about future at Leeds

Ben White’s latest Instagram post has suggested that he might never play for Leeds United again as he paid tribute to his loan club.

White, 22, has been one of the best players for Leeds this season, playing every single minute of every Championship match as the Whites won the title and automatic promotion back to the Premier League.

Unfortunately for Leeds fans, White’s loan deal at Elland Road is now over and he has officially returned to Brighton with the Yorkshire club’s 2019/20 season over.

Many supporters are clinging onto the hope of a permanent swoop for White but based on the defender’s Instagram post, he’s not expecting to return to the club any time soon.

“Having had some time to reflect on what has been the most incredible season I wanted to take the time to thank everyone associated with Leeds United Football Club, including the incredible supporters,” White wrote on Instagram.

“No matter what happens from here I will never forget the way you took me in and treated me as one of your own from day one. These memories and experiences will be with me forever.”

It sure seems like a goodbye message from White and it definitely suggests he’s not going to come back to Leeds.

Of course, the Whites could still pull off a shock transfer for the defender – but it would be a massive, massive shock.

The Sun journalist Alan Nixon has reported that Brighton value White at around £40million while The Athletic claims that Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United are all keen on him.

Leeds legend Eddie Gray has said that Leeds are doing all they can to sign White again from Brighton but those efforts might be in vain.

We’d love to see White back.

According to stats by WhoScored, he ranked second in the whole of the Championship for interceptions made per game this season [2.5] while out of centre-backs with more than 20 appearances, he ranked joint-third in the league for tackles per game [1.6].

At the age of 22, he is certainly someone who has a future in the Premier League and replacing him this summer is going to be a huge task for Marcelo Bielsa and Victor Orta.

We wouldn’t put our money on finding someone better than the Brighton ace.

In other Leeds United news, Leeds have advised overseas players to return home as they face quarantine.
