Morrison claims Bielsa will be disappointed with £35,000-a-wk Leeds player after 1-1 v Brentford
Kiko Casilla had yet another shocker for Leeds United on Tuesday night when he gifted Brentford a goal in his side’s 1-1 draw at Griffin Park.
Although the result and the performance was a major improvement on what Leeds fans have endured lately, Casilla was once again suspect in goals when his loose touch led to Said Benrahma scoring for the Bees.
Leeds were trying to play the ball out of the back when Casilla miscontrolled the ball, only for the Brentford attacker to pounce and stick the ball in the back of the net.
Luckily for the Whites, the home side’s goalkeeper David Raya also made a mistake which led to Liam Cooper levelling the scores.
Sky Sports pundit Clinton Morrison has slammed Casilla for his mistake at the back and suggested it happened due to Leeds trying to overplay the passing in their defence.
“Marcelo Bielsa will be happy [with the performance] but he will be disappointed with his goalie for giving Brentford the goal,” said Morrison on Sky Sports News on Tuesday night.
The ex-Crystal Palace player added: “They were overplaying and Casilla is not good with his feet. They still tried to play it out from the back after that but Benrahma anticipated it and it was an easy goal.
“Leeds have been playing it out really well but Casilla has to do better than that.”
Casilla has made way too many mistakes for Leeds and it is about time that Bielsa really takes a look at the Spaniard’s spot in his starting line-up.
According to The Athletic, the goalkeeper is earning £35,000-a-week on his deal at Elland Road and you would assume he is the top-earning shot-stopper in the whole of the Championship since joining the Whites from Real Madrid last January.
For that kind of money, you should not expect many mistakes but with Casilla, they appear to be happening on a weekly basis.
They are not just minor mistakes either, they are usually ones that lead to goals.
Most people have forgiven the Spaniard for his blunders against Derby County in the play-off semi-finals last season but fans will not forgive him if his mistakes cost Leeds promotion this term.
In other Leeds United news, fans were blown away by this player’s display on Tuesday night.
