Leeds United captain Liam Cooper claims that Whites players talk about the return of fans to Elland Road every day.

Fans are yet to watch Premier League football at Elland Road in the flesh this season as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic which is an especially tough blow for Leeds fans.

Speaking on the Sky Sports Super 6 podcast, Cooper said that he believes Whites fans are missing out ‘big time’ and he can’t wait until Elland road is bouncing once again.

When asked if he was looking forward to having the fans back, Cooper said, “100%. Me and the lads talk about it every single day, that moment to have Elland Road bouncing.

“It’s such an advantage for us. Coming to Elland road is tough for anyone. I’d been with Chesterfield before I signed and it’s horrible.

“They [the fans] are unbelievable for us. We’ve been starved for so long from Premier League football. They’re missing out big time.”

Leeds United

It has been tough for us to watch the boys from home during the pandemic but there is an extra level of pain while watching Marcelo Bielsa work his magic in the Premier League with no supporters present.

Of course, it isn’t easy for the players either and we are all looking forward to the day when a full Elland Road gets to witness the real return of Premier League football.

Hopefully this rendezvous is within sight as the UK begins to roll out its vaccination programme with every injection another step closer to the return of fans and some sort of normality.

On another level, having fans back will give us a chance to thank the players for their work during the pandemic as the continuation of top-flight football has provided us all with a welcome distraction over the last 12 months.

Every day is another day closer to this long-awaited return, that first game back will be seriously special and we can’t wait.
