Michael Owen predicts scoreline of Leeds United clash v Arsenal

Leeds United have been tipped to pull off a surprise win against Arsenal by Michael Owen.

The Whites host the Gunners on Saturday (18 December) following the 7-0 thrashing at the hands of Manchester City on Tuesday night (14 December).

Mikel Arteta’s side come into the match having beaten West Ham 2-0 on Wednesday evening (15 December).

In his latest predictions column for BetVictor, Owen backed Leeds to use the Elland Road crowd to their advantage and claim a 2-1 victory.

“Bielsa looked like he couldn’t believe what happened at the Etihad,” he said. “It was a disastrous showing and is one of the worst results of the Argentine’s career. Leeds will be desperate to show their best here.

“That win over West Ham on Wednesday has now put Arsenal into the top four. I don’t think they’ll stay there but after a poor start to the season, it’s impressive stuff.

“The atmosphere for this one will be fantastic. Leeds are firmly in the relegation mix and they need a big win to kickstart their season. I think they’ll get it here.”

Response needed

A big response is needed following the humiliation at the Etihad Stadium in midweek.

Although Manchester City are the reigning Premier League champions and one of the best teams in the world, the performance was not good enough and has brought fears about relegation to the fore again.

We are currently five points above the bottom three and have plenty of players to come back from injury so there is definitely no need to panic, but we do need to get back on track quickly.

Arsenal, despite problems off the pitch with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, are an improving side though and will not be an easy opponent.

The Gunners have won back-to-back matches and moved into the top four after beating West Ham on Wednesday.

We need to get right behind the boys at Elland Road tomorrow; getting three points with so many players missing would be a huge statement.
