Michael Owen predicts result of Leeds United v Tottenham

Leeds United are back in action on Sunday with a trip to Tottenham Hotspur as the Premier League resumes after the international break.

They are in search of their third win of what has been an underwhelming campaign, but Michael Owen [via BetVictor] reckons they will have to wait for it as he is tipping Antonio Conte’s men to emerge winners.

The Italian is taking charge of his first home league game as Spurs manager since succeeding Nuno Espirito Santo, and Leeds need to be on top of their game to spoil the party.

Owen told BetVictor: “The international break came at just the right time for Spurs and has allowed Conte a couple of weeks to find his feet and work on the training ground.

“He’s a fantastic coach but he’ll need time to get his ideas across. Remarkably, Spurs have had the fewest shots in the league although I’m sure that will change.

“Leeds are unbeaten in three but need to convert some of these draws into wins. They’ve got just one clean sheet in the league, no one has less.

“I can’t see this being a good away trip for Leeds. I think Conte will look to kickstart his Spurs tenure here and his players will be really up for this.”

Tough one

Marcelo Bielsa’s side are averaging a point and a goal per game so far this term, and something needs to change heading into matchday 12.

They are just three points and three places off the relegation zone, and they will be hoping to get a win at Spurs’ expense.

Despite his reputation as one of the best in the job, Conte has not had most of his players available during the international break, and there is little that can be implemented between now and Sunday.

He is set to be without the suspended Oliver Skipp, while Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Cristian Romero are both injury doubts.

With Leeds likely to have Patrick Bamford back, Tottenham could have a hard time coping against the Whites on Sunday.

The Elland Road side have a point to prove at North London, and leaving with all three points would surely help set the tone and provide them with a much-needed boost for the tough run of fixtures ahead.
