Michael Owen predicts outcome of Leeds United clash v Crystal Palace

Leeds United will travel to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Monday.

Michael Owen thinks Jesse Marsch has done a good job at Leeds and that the Whites are in a good position above the bottom three.

Palace suffered a disappointing defeat against Newcastle on Wednesday but the popular pundit has backed them to win 2-0 on Monday.

“That was a disappointing defeat to Newcastle on Wednesday for Palace. They had plenty of the ball, but just didn’t create enough,” said Owen to BetVictor.

“The defeat at Wembley to Chelsea was bound to impact them though.

“I think Jesse Marsch has done a very good job at Leeds. Whilst they aren’t quite safe yet, they are now in a good position above the bottom three.

“That being said, I’m still picking Palace here. 2-0.”

Momentum

Under Marsch, Leeds have seen an improvement in results in recent games.

They are unbeaten in their last four games in the Premier League, winning three of them.

The Whites have suffered a big blow ahead of the game after it was confirmed that midfielder Adam Forshaw has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

In fact, Leeds have struggled badly with injuries this season, with so many key players missing from time to time.

Kalvin Phillips is fully fit and he is raring to go, while Patrick Bamford is expected to return to action at some point before the end of the season.

Leeds are not safe yet, and they need some more points to ensure their league status for another season. A win against Palace will be another big step in the right direction.

It remains to be seen how Marsch shapes his midfield for this game. In all probability, Robin Koch could play alongside Phillips on Monday.
