Michael Owen has predicted that Leeds United will come away with a point from Old Trafford in an entertaining 2-2 draw on Sunday.

He said that Man United would need to be wary of the energy in the Leeds squad and added, “[They] can really run the legs off you if given the chance.”

Writing in his regular column for BetVictor Owen said, “Leeds are at their best when teams come at them. They are excellent at smothering sides and can really run the legs off you if given the chance.

“I think United will need to be wary of that. If Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has done his homework, he may approach with caution as they won’t want to get caught out on the counter-attack.

“If that materialises, we could be in for a cagey start. However, it only takes one goal to light the touch paper in a derby.

“I can’t help thinking back to Leeds match against Liverpool at the start of the season. If they approach this in a similar way, I think we could be in for an entertaining match with the sides ultimately sharing the points.”

Fit and ready for action

Leeds really can run the legs off you.

Chelsea found that out and while they did their homework and out-ran and out-classed Leeds at Stamford Bridge, the game took its toll.

Chelsea have lost both games since and Athletic journalist Simon Johnson said he thought they were still suffering from the Leeds game.

They ran 11km above their season average in the 3-1 win against Leeds and Lampard said “fatigue had caught up” with his players following the defeat to Wolves this week.

Have Man United even got that in their tank?

We’re not convinced after a fairly gruelling game against Sheffield United last night.

A late Blades goal meant they were pushed for the full 90 minutes and the Leeds players will have been watching with interest from their ice baths.

Leeds can go for the full 90 minutes and scored three goals against Newcastle in the last 15 minutes as the Toon wilted.

A 2-2 draw on Sunday would be acceptable. A 3-2 win with a late winner as United tire would be sensational.
