Michael Owen has backed Leeds United to return to winning ways in their Premier League clash against Brighton on Saturday afternoon.
Owen has predicted that the Whites will win 3-1 at Elland Road, as he expects the game to be open with two free-flowing sides.
Leeds come into this on the back of their embarrassing FA Cup defeat against Crawley, whereas Brighton haven’t won in the Premier League since November.
Writing in his BetVictor predictions column, Owen believes that the Seagulls will be in desperate need of points, and their failures to score are a big reason behind that.
“Leeds are looking to get back on track after last weekend’s FA Cup horror show at Crawley Town. Marcelo Bielsa’s men were well out of sorts and I’m sure the manager will have put his players through their paces in training this week,” he wrote.
“Brighton travel here in desperate need of points. They continue to flatter to deceive and unless they start finding the net, their nice style of play will count for nothing.
“I think this match could be set up for Leeds to win. Brighton like to attack and if they do, I’d expect the Elland Road side to pick their opponents off and win comfortably.”
For once, Leeds don’t have the worst injury problems of the two sides.
The Whites welcome back Diego Llorente, Tyler Roberts, and keep the likes of Liam Cooper after his return against Crawley last week.
Brighton, on the other hand, have six players sidelined for the trip to Elland Road.
After losing 1-0 to Manchester City on Wednesday, Graham Potter confirmed that important players such as Danny Welbeck and Tariq Lamptey will be missing.
After the Crawley defeat, it is vital that the Whites bounce back with another three points in the Premier League and continue to widen their gap to the relegation-threatened sides.
