Michael Owen delivers Gabriel Jesus penalty verdict in Leeds United v Arsenal Premier League clash
Michael Owen believes there was not enough contact for Gabriel Jesus to go down like he did as Leeds United lost 4-1 to Arsenal at the Emirates on Saturday.
However, as the referee pointed to the spot, there was no chance of VAR overturning it but Owen believes that it was unlucky on the Whites.
Luke Ayling went to the ground with little hope of winning the ball and just as Jesus felt the contract he threw himself to the floor.

Speaking on Premier League Productions’ half-time show, Owen said, [01/04, 15:56], “He plays for it.
“There’s not enough for him to knock him off his feet.
“You can see why a penalty is given.”
Harsh on
These are the sort of decisions that lean the way based on what the referee initially calls and he’s not even told to go and have a second glance at it.
Perhaps if he was, he could see what Owen is saying and then decide to change his decision but he was not given that option.
It’s hard to say that it had a huge bearing on the game, but going into the break at 0-0 would’ve been a different approach for Leeds.
Their heads would have fallen after going down a goal and they probably would have been more upbeat in the second period.

However, they ended up conceding soon into the second half and that put the seal on the game despite the visitors putting up a solid fight.
It’s not the result they would have wanted but now must fancy their chances going into the Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace games.
