Michael O’Neill shares Stuart Dallas injury update, medical teams set for talks on Leeds United ace
Northern Ireland manager Michael O’Neill has shared an injury update on versatile Leeds United star Stuart Dallas.
The Whites ace has been out of action since fracturing his femur in a Premier League clash with Manchester City in April 2022.
But O’Neill has now noted that the player may join up with the Northern Ireland national team during the upcoming international break.
“To be fair I think Stuart has had some progress in terms of where he is at,” said O’Neill, as quoted by BBC Sport (8 November). “He has been training back with Leeds but has had to step back a couple of times from that.
“I had a conversation with him about possibly coming in to join up with the squad for a day or two next week. That is something that maybe the medical team with ourselves and the medical team at Leeds will discuss.
“Obviously their main priority is to ensure that the care is there for him as well. It would be nice just to see him around again.”
Star man
Dallas has been a star player for club and country during his time on the pitch over recent years, but sadly such time has been cut short due to injury.
The Whites really missed the 32-year-old in the Premier League last season, with a different story perhaps playing out at Elland Road had Dallas been available.
But it wasn’t the case as Leeds were relegated to the Championship, with the West Yorkshire club now trying their utmost to get back to the big time.
So far manager Daniel Farke has had to do it without the experienced Dallas, but he is no doubt counting down the days until he can welcome the Northern Ireland man back onto the pitch.
It isn’t just Leeds who have missed the player, with O’Neill and Northern Ireland really struggling without Dallas in their squad.
The team have missed other key players, but perhaps the absence of the Whites ace has been the biggest issue behind their recent struggles.
In other Leeds United news, Whites fans can breathe a sigh of relief as transfer news emerges regarding Premier League club Everton.
