Michael Dawson stunned by what Plymouth player did v Leeds United
Michael Dawson was stunned by Plymouth defender Dan Scarr after he made a goal-saving tackle in the 2-1 win for Leeds United, denying Crysencio Summerville.
Plymouth kept things tight early in the game before Leeds thought they may finally have a breakthrough before Scarr’s sliding challenge thwarted Summerville.
Dawson gushed over the challenge, labelling it “unbelievable” as the defender kept the scoreline at 0-0 early on despite the run of the game falling largely in Leeds’ favour, which they later went on to make the most of.

Watching the game live on Sky Sports News [11 November, 15:17], Dawson gushed: “I don’t think it’s a penalty, I think it’s an unbelievable tackle by Dan Scarr the centre-half for Plymouth. It’s been all Leeds, it’s been one-way traffic, it is a great tackle.
“It’s played down the right-hand side, Dan James just dinks it to the far post and it goes over the keeper, and it’s Summerville who’s just going to have a tap in and Dan Scarr just comes in from absolutely nowhere, slides, and if he’s not there it’s a goal.”
Keeping things tight
Plymouth’s efforts to keep the scoreline tight early on was a concerted effort to frustrate Leeds, and Scarr’s challenge summed up their determination and drive to stay in the game and maintain their clean sheet at the beginning of the game.
Dawson’s response was certainly correct, it was an unbelievable challenge from Scarr to prevent Summerville from giving his side the lead in the game when it seemed to all the world that the in-form Dutchman would give Leeds the lead inside 20 minutes.

Leeds dominated the run of the game despite the best efforts of their opponents, but it was Scarr keeping them in it for the most part when on another day Plymouth would’ve likely fallen to the early goal.
Summerville, who has been on fire at Elland Road so far this season, was left frustrated by the tackle, while Leeds claimed for a penalty on Georginio Rutter just before the chance.
