Michael Dawson slams Georginio Rutter after what he did for Leeds United v Watford
Michael Dawson has slammed Georginio Rutter after what he did for Leeds United in the first half against Watford on Saturday (23 September).
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday (03:07pm), the pundit said the Frenchman “should do better” when he missed a chance from about four yards out following a “brilliant” cross from Dan James.
He added that the 21-year-old forward has “got to get a better contact” on the ball as he missed the opportunity to put his side ahead early on in the 3-0 win against the Hornets at Elland Road.

“We should have had a goal there, another one for Leeds,” said Dawson. “They have just had another chance, Rutter should score. It’s again down the right-hand side, great pass into Rutter on his left foot, he should do better.
“Dan James does brilliant, puts a cross in and he’s literally four yards out, he’s just got to get a better contact. It’s down to Daniel Bachmann, that’s two good saves.”
Another huge chance
While Rutter has put in some decent performances of late, there have been questions marks raised about the forward’s finishing.
He missed a chance in midweek in the 0-0 draw against Hull City when he went one-on-one with Ryan Allsop and the keeper came out on top.
The forward may find his confidence in front of goal as the season goes on, but he really needs to be scoring these easy opportunities, although he did excel in every other area.

If the chances he’s missed had perhaps fallen to Joel Piroe, then it’s much more likely he would’ve gave the Whites the lead with his composure in front of goal.
But Daniel Farke would rather see the Frenchman get in there and have chances than not be in the right areas at all, so if he keeps getting in there, it’s likely he will start profiting soon.
In other Leeds United news, one player could be set for a permanent Whites exit following an £82million development.
