Michael Dawson raves about ‘amazing’ Georginio Rutter after what he did for Leeds United v Watford

Michael Dawson has raved about Georginio Rutter after what he did for Leeds United in the first half against Watford on Saturday (23 September).

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday (03:45pm), the pundit was wowed by the Frenchman as he played a lovely ball down the left to Dan James against the Hornets at Elland Road.

He added that the 21-year-old forward had been “amazing” throughout the game which finally ended in a comfortable 3-0 win for the Whites.

“Rutter has been amazing,” said Dawson. “This pass when you see it, he plays it down the left-hand side, outside of his left foot and he just bends it.

“Dan James gets in front of Jamal Lewis, who does really well, gets back just as Dan James is about to pull the trigger and he gives him a slight nudge. It’s the right decision, Leeds are wanting a penalty, I don’t think it is.”

Quality

This is high praise from Dawson for Rutter after he was clearly impressed by what he saw from him in the first half against Watford.

It was a lovely piece of skill from the forward to play James in down the left, but unfortunately for Leeds, it didn’t lead to the opening goal.

The Frenchman has, however, shown that he does possess an awful lot of quality as you would expect from a player who commanded such a high transfer fee earlier this year.

The Whites would like to see him having more of an impact inside the box, though, after he missed a couple of excellent chances to put his side ahead in the first half.

But there is no doubt that he could be a huge player for them as they look to try and force their way into the mix for promotion this season.

In other Leeds United news, one player could be set for a permanent Whites exit following an £82million development.
