Michael Dawson blown away by 'magnificent' Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville v Plymouth

Michael Dawson was left stunned by a “magnificent” display from Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday 11 November.

Daniel Farke’s side headed into the November international break with a deserved 2-1 win over the Pilgrims at Elland Road, securing all three points thanks to first-half strikes from Dan James and Joel Piroe.

While the two goalscorers stole plenty of praise from pundits and supporters alike, Dawson was just as impressed by the work of Championship Player of the Month Summerville, especially during the build-up to James’ opening goal.

Speaking on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday (11 November, 15:25) he said: “It’s been coming, it’s been one-way traffic and it’s Dan James and it is a great finish in the end. Plymouth are going to be kicking themselves.

“It’s great play down the left-hand side, Summerville has been magnificent.”

Magnificent

Before a ball was kicked this season, most Leeds United supporters had expected Wilfried Gnonto to be the star man operating from the left wing in Farke’s team, but Summerville’s excellent form has made him undroppable at Elland Road in recent weeks.

October saw him win the second tier’s Player of the Month award and there is little to suggest that he has any intent of slowing down as the season progresses as he was arguably Leeds’ best player in Saturday’s win over Plymouth.

Every time the winger gets on the ball defenders begin to panic and start to backpedal to force him away from the goal, but somehow the Dutchman always finds a way to manoeuvre some space, whether to score himself or lay on an opportunity for a teammate.

Keeping him fit and firing will be integral to Leeds having a successful season and the Whites could well face a battle to keep him at Elland Road over the January transfer window. But if he continues to produce these “magnificent” displays, the Whites have to keep him in their ranks.
