Michael Bridges thinks that teams will be after Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips

Former Leeds United man Michael Bridges has revealed that he thinks there will be clubs keen on signing Kalvin Phillips.

Speaking to Optus Sport, Bridges revealed that he thinks the 25-year-old is “vital” to the Whites, but there would be clubs coming to have a look at him after his performances in the Euros for England.

Philips was fantastic for Leeds last season, earning a WhoScored average rating of 7.01, which ranked him in fifth place in the Whites’ squad and Bridges clearly thinks there will be some teams keen.

He said: “It’s vital. Absolutely vital to keep him.

“When you lose mainstay centre-halves, defensive midfielders, central midfielders and goal scorers – that’s the core. Kalvin is a vital part of that … that position there is so vital. You cannot lose players like that.

“Every player has a price, and obviously, after what Kalvin has done, there will be interest. He’s a Leeds boy, he’s Leeds bred … let’s just hope no one has the money.”

Phillips to stay at Elland Road?

The 25-year-old has offered no indication that he is unhappy at Leeds, and there has also been no serious offer from any club to Leeds for the England man.

So as it stands, we can’t see him going anywhere for at least another season, but hopefully, he spends his whole career with the Whites!

Phillips has been described as “outstanding” by Gareth Southgate, so it is no wonder that Bridges thinks that teams will be interested in signing him, but we can’t see him going anywhere [Evening Standard].

There isn’t that long in the transfer window left, and it would be much harder to replace Phillips than build the team around him.

So we wouldn’t be surprised if clubs are keen but can’t see that interest developing into an offer anytime soon, which would be fantastic news for the Whites.
