Medical done: Leeds United ace Mateusz Klich to have DC United deal finalised on Wednesday
Mateusz Klich has completed his DC United medical and is expected to finalise his Leeds United departure, according to the Washington Post’s Steven Goff.
Goff claimed (10 January, US time) that the 32-year-old had arrived in Washington to complete his move to the MLS side after the Whites had allowed the Poland international to leave Elland Road.
The Washington Post journalist has since revealed (via Twitter, 10 January) that an official announcement is expected by the end of Wednesday in the States.
Every single Leeds United fan will wish Klich the best of luck on his new adventure out in the MLS. It was the right decision by the club on a human level to let him depart with his game time taking a severe hit in the 2022/23 season.
Jesse Marsch was eager to keep the midfielder but it didn’t feel right seeing a modern-day Leeds legend occupy the bench. Klich’s departure could well be followed by the likes of Luke Ayling and Adam Forshaw in the coming weeks and months.
The pair are yet to agree new deals at Elland Road and right now it seems unlikely they will be offered new terms. Marsch has certainly overseen an extensive overhaul to since his arrival in West Yorkshire and the pressure will now be on his squad to drag Leeds away from the relegation zone.
He’s been extensively backed by the board and if the inconsistent form continues, he will have to shoulder most of the blame.
