‘Maybe that’s where the discrepancy lies’ – Sky pundit has theory about Leeds prediction
Former Leeds United player David Prutton causes a bit of a stir every week when his predictions for Championship fixtures are published on Sky Sports’ website.
However there is no denying that he has been more or less spot on with Leeds this season with a recent report showing that, when all of his predictions are added together, the Whites sit second in the table, behind West Brom.
Although he has the league position of Leeds and West Brom correct – the only two teams he does have correct – there is a big difference in the points he’s predicted them to pick up.
As it stands, West Brom are top with 69 points while the Whites are second with 68.
However Prutton’s predicted table has the Baggies on a whopping 84 points with Marcelo Bielsa’s men on 75.
He’s not too far off with Leeds but Prutton has a theory about why he has predicted the two promotion favourites to have so many points.
“From what I’ve seen, and the general consensus when you listen to other players and managers is that West Brom and Leeds are the best in the division on their day, so it is not too far beyond comprehension to predict they are going to win more than they have,” said Prutton on the Sky Sports website.
“The blip they both had didn’t catch us so much by surprise, but it certainly lasted longer than we though it would, and maybe that’s where the discrepancy lies in terms of how many more points I have given them.”
Prutton’s reasoning makes sense.
No one expected Leeds to be as bad as they were for as long as they were but now they have finally got past that rut and are firing on all cylinders.
Huddersfield are up next for the Whites at Elland Road and let’s hope United can smash past them in the same way they did Hull last week.
