Max Wober injury details revealed ahead of Leeds United v Burnley at Elland Road
Leeds United defender Max Wober has suffered a knee injury while on international duty with Austria, according to Kronen Zeitung.
The Austrian newspaper reported via their website on Monday (9 September) that Wober, 26, had to sit out his country’s Nations League defeat to Norway with “knee problems”.
Wober played 90 minutes in a 1-1 draw with Slovenia on Friday (6 September) before being an unused substitute in the 2-1 defeat to Erling Haaland’s Norway.
Will Wober be fit to play for Leeds United versus Burnley on Saturday?
The Elland Road faithful have only caught a glimpse of Wober once this season in the 3-0 defeat in the EFL Cup to Middlesbrough, so many fans will probably be unfazed by this news.
Clean Sheets from a defensive partnership of Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk have kept the Austrian out of Daniel Farke’s starting XI in the Championship, and the German manager will no doubt start the same two players in the Burnley match.
That said, strength in depth at centre-back is an issue that Leeds face, with only Wober in reserve if the starting two become injured.

Although Ethan Ampadu played a majority of matches at centre half, it seems he is best utilised in midfield, meaning Farke could be one injury away from an early-season derailment.
The seriousness of the knee injury sustained by Wober is still unknown, though he could be a real weapon for Leeds in the remaining 42 matches of the season, especially when he is outperforming Bundesliga defenders on international duty.
In other Leeds news, the Whites are going to demand an “awful lot of money” to sell this star player.
