Max Wober and Rasmus Kristensen could return to Leeds United after loans, ‘Issue’ raised

Leeds United would be willing to welcome back Rasmus Kristensen and Max Wober to their squad after their loans away, according to Graeme Bailey.

Both defenders left the club after just one season at Elland Road following relegation, with Wober joining Bundesliga outfit Gladbach and Kristensen heading to Serie A with Roma.

But with the Whites looking at an instant return to the Premier League, journalist Bailey told LeedsUnited.news (23 March) that he wouldn’t be surprised to see Daniel Farke give them a chance although they are likely to be sold if the right offers are received.

“Wober is a good player and he’s one who did well in England,” he said. “He has been consistent at the back for Gladbach too, it is one where if Leeds can get the money back and wages covered, they would probably do it.

“Gladbach do quite fancy it but there won’t be an issue for Leeds, if they don’t want him to stay, there will be buyers there, with Gladbach at the front of the queue.

“Kristensen, he wasn’t great but I thought he was OK at full-back. You lost Luke Ayling and it isn’t an area Leeds are particularly well-versed in. There is every chance these two [Kristensen and Aaronson] could come back and have a role, or at the very least Farke could have a look and consider things.

“As we’ve seen in the Premier League when you have a Premier League player on good money, which they are, it is not easy to get rid of them. It wouldn’t surprise me if they got a chance. Kristensen is probably more likely to get a move, he has looked OK [at Roma]. He’s looked like a top-flight defender and done reasonably well in patches.

“We will see with them, but I’d say Kristensen is the more likely to get a move out of the two of them at the moment. It also depends on whether Leeds are willing to do loans again.

“That will be up to Farke, and you do need a bigger squad in the Premier League. With those two, there is a chance they could come back and feature.”

Leeds United should look forwards, not backwards

When Leeds got relegated to the Championship, a host of players showed that they never really cared about the club and it was all about playing in the Premier League.

That’s fine in isolation, but you can’t then come running back to the club if they get back there without you when you only played a part the team being relegated.

Wober was unfortunate as he joined the club in January and he played under three managers in just six months, but it still isn’t great to see from a fan perspective.

Daniel Farke has done a brilliant job of instilling a sense of unity at Elland Road since coming in, and he has dealt with big problems well to gain the trust of the squad and the fans.

But this feels like a new era at the club and bringing players back in is probably not the best thing to do and wouldn’t reward those who have worked hard to get the club back to where it belongs.

In other Leeds news, the club must be controversial and cash in on this international star this summer.
