Max Aarons sends message to Jaidon Anthony after Leeds United win v Watford

Max Aarons has sent Leeds United winger Jaidon Anthony a message on Instagram following the Whites’ win over Watford on Saturday 23 September.

The Whites extended their unbeaten run to six matches in the Championship following their 3-0 demolition of the Hornets at Elland Road, thanks to goals from Joel Piroe, Sam Byram and a first in Leeds colours for Bournemouth loanee Anthony.

Having joined the ranks at Elland Road on deadline day, with Luis Sinisterra making the move in the opposite direction, the 23-year-old had spent some time at the Vitality Stadium with Aarons who was quick to comment on the winger’s goal.

Reacting to a post of Anthony celebrating on the Leeds man’s Instagram (23 August) Aarons replied: “Anthonyyyy” with a heart eyes emoji.

Aarons himself had been a target for the Whites this summer, with the right-back even agreeing to make the permanent switch to Daniel Farke’s side, before the Cherries made a late decision to hijack the deal for the England youth international [The Athletic, 9 August].

While Aarons likely isn’t the most popular of figures amongst the Leeds United fanbase given this summer’s transfer saga, he is one of many players clearly excited for Anthony to have scored his first goal with his new club.

Among the comments are the likes of Alex Scott, Morgan Gibbs-White and Dominick Solanke alongside a whole host of his Leeds United teammates and is clear that the forward is well-liked by his colleagues, both past and present.

Leeds United

Leeds strengthened well at right-back ultimately this summer, with Djed Spence arriving on a season-long loan from Tottenham, so there isn’t exactly much anger left over from Aaron’s change of heart and Farke seems to have found yet another diamond to feature out wide for his team.

Anthony has been bright whenever he has stepped out onto the pitch in a Leeds United kit and the 23-year-old could be a key factor in the Whites’ hunt for promotion for the remainder of this season. Who knows, if he continues this early form and settled in Yorkshire, he would be a valuable asset to have in the ranks permanently next season.
