Max Aarons sends message to Daniel Farke after dramatic Leeds United transfer U-turn
Max Aarons gave Daniel Farke the “biggest thank you” despite his dramatic decision to snub a move to Leeds United in favour of Bournemouth.
The full-back reportedly left a medical at Elland Road to complete a move to the Premier League Cherries from Norwich City instead, with the Bournemouth Echo reporting an initial £7million has been paid with the deal potentially eventually worth up to £12m.
Aarons would have been reunited with his former Norwich boss Farke at Elland Road and he paid tribute to the German after leaving Carrow Road.
Posting on Twitter, Aarons wrote: “I want to say the biggest thank you to Daniel Farke, the man who gave me my debut and believed in me.
“The last few days have been a whirlwind and I’m a massively grateful for everything he has done for me and wish him the biggest success moving forward.”
Disappointing
The beauty of Max Aarons is that he is equally adept at playing either right back or left back, and with Leeds in dire need of reinforcement at the latter this would have been a huge coup.
It was, however, not meant to be. Perhaps the biggest surprise is that a player of Aarons’ calibre being available for such a relatively cheap price was not attracting more top-flight interest.
And it is even more disappointing that Bournemouth were probably alerted to the price it would cost to earn his signature by the fact a deal was seemingly agreed with Leeds.

Thus, Leeds must now go back to the drawing board to try and solve a problem position and with more players expected to leave, Farke is facing a pretty big headache between now and the end of the transfer window to finalise his squad.
Joe Rodon has arrived on loan from Tottenham, though, so let’s hope for even more good transfer news for Leeds in the coming days.
