Matt Le Tissier issues verdict on Ben White future, claims Brighton will be ‘concerned’
Matt Le Tissier has admitted that he is convinced Leeds United loanee Ben White will be playing his football in the Premier League with Brighton next season.
The centre-back has been a revelation since arriving last summer, playing every minute of every game for the Whites in their promotion bid.
And Le Tissier believes that he has impressed so much that there is little chance he will be allowed to return to Yorkshire for another spell.
Speaking on Soccer Saturday (Sky Sports News, July 4th, 12pm), he said: “I certainly think Ben White will be playing for Brighton in the Premier League next season.
“He’s been very impressive.
“I think they have high hopes for him down there.
“They’re probably a little bit concerned that he’s had such a good season at Leeds that somebody a bit bigger than Brighton might come in and nick him this summer.”
Unfortunately, Le Tissier’s verdict hardly comes as a surprise.
White has been exemplary all season, and we’ve already heard from Brighton that they intend to keep hold of the youngster for as long as they possibly can.
As if that wasn’t bad enough for Leeds, they then have to contend with reported interest from the likes of Liverpool.
Bringing White back for another season feels like an almost impossible task, so much so that we are already seeing Leeds linked with potential replacements.
Most recently, we’ve seen the name of Argentine talent Lucas Martinez Quarta being thrown about, and barring some kind of minor miracle on the White front, don’t be surprised to see his name mentioned a few more times before the end of the summer.
