Matheus Cunha’s agent speaks about the player’s future and Leeds United

Matheus Cunha’s agent has revealed that Zenit St Petersburg are “mad” on the Leeds United target and that other clubs from England have also spoken to him about the 22-year-old.

Cunha is currently at the Olympics with Brazil and has been heavily linked with a move to Leeds; however, it appears as if Zenit can pay the forward a huge amount of money and are offering him £3.42million-per-year to move to Russia [LUFCFANZONE].

The agent also confirms that both he and Cunha have “spoke with two English clubs,” but neither were Leeds.

Leeds to miss out on Cunha?

It is unclear if this is simply just agent talk to try and convince Leeds to up their salary offer or if the Whites genuinely look like missing out on the Hertha Berlin man.

Cunha is said to be valued at £21.3million by his club, so he wouldn’t cost too much in the grand scheme of things, but he would still be Leeds’ third-most expensive transfer ever [tuttomercatoweb].

So you can see why they are taking their time with this one, and they have to make sure he is the right player for them.

However, given that he is versatile and directly contributed to 16 goals last season, you would have thought the Whites would be trying to get this deal sealed quickly.

The 22-year-old has also been described as a “genius” by his current manager Pai Dardai in the past, and he could be the ideal addition to this Leeds side [Kicker].

However, this latest update from his agent suggests that he could be going elsewhere this summer, which would be a huge shame.

In other Leeds United news, one player has just agreed terms on a new contract that will see him stay at Elland Road until at least 2024.
