Matheus Cunha likes transfer Tweet about potential move to Leeds United

Leeds United fans are starting to get excited after Hertha Berlin striker Matheus Cunha was linked with a move to the club this summer.

And that excitement has just moved up a notch after Cunha himself liked a tweet that said he was ‘on the market’ with Leeds interest linked.

The initial news came from Sky Sports reporter Max Bielefeld who said that Leeds have been scouting the attacker for months.

That was picked up by Goal journalist Ronan Murphy, who added the #LUFC hashtag to his tweet.

ESPN journalist Gustavo Hofman quote-tweeted him saying Cunha was “on the market” and that was liked by Cunha himself.

In the thread, Murphy was asked by a Leeds fan if Cunha was “any good?”

Murphy replied saying, “Yeah, he’s got plenty of potential. Bielsa could bring him to the next level.”

Next Rodrigo De Paul

Leeds fans have been here before but it’s the first real bit of excitement ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

At the very least it strongly hints at a move this summer.

Last season, Rodrigo De Paul sent Leeds fans into a frenzy after revealing that he wanted to join Leeds on social media.

Player power wasn’t enough to seal that deal and while some fans are hoping that he signs this summer, Leeds chief Angus Kinnear has said it’s not happening.

So what about Cunha? (And we need to say that while Leeds were headlined in the transfer story, other clubs were credited with an interest.)

Leeds fans are extremely excited and with good reason.

He’s got seven goals and six assists in 27 Bundesliga games this season and he’s versatile – he can play as a striker, a number 10 or on the left-wing.

That versatility makes him an exciting prospect for Leeds and it would solve all the attacking problems we’ve got in one fell swoop, including cover for Bamford.

It’s one transfer we’d love to see happen and so would a lot of Leeds fans.

We’ll be keeping a very close eye on his social media account from now on but we can safely say it’s time to get excited.
