Mateusz Klich shares reaction to Max Wober comments after confirmed Leeds United transfer exit

Former Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich took to Twitter to share his reaction to Max Wober’s comments following his confirmed transfer to Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Austria international appeared to be ready to stay at Elland Road following relegation, but after he was suddenly missing from the squad for the friendly against Monaco on 22 July it emerged that he was set to become the latest Whites player to exploit the chance to depart.

That deal was made official on Monday (31 July) and after his completed loan move, the Austrian admitted his disappointment on his Instagram account (31 July) at departing and shared his need to play at a high level elsewhere.

However, in a tweet shared by Vital Leeds (31 July), posting more of Wober’s comments, former Elland Road fan favourite Klich shared his response to the comments with a laughing emoji on Tuesday afternoon.

Sarcastic laugh?

The Leeds United fans could well be forgiven for sharing their rage at Wober’s decision after he committed himself to Daniel Farke’s cause at Elland Road before his dramatic U-turn.

Certainly, Wober’s departure leaves a sour taste but the Austrian defender is simply too good to be playing Championship-level football and his international exploits could well have been limited as a result, too. His desire to seek pastures new is totally understandable.

But, it is the fact that he had remained part of the Leeds United squad through all the uncertainty over the takeover and the managerial appointment and said he would stay [Leeds Live, 6 July], only to leave which angers the whole club, including Klich.

Whatever that laughing emoji posted by Klich means, he can’t have been happy about Wober’s decision too and the emoji is aimed at Wober’s self-proclaimed characteristics for which Klich may believe the Austrian didn’t show them when Leeds United needed him most upon their disappointing relegation in May.
