Mateusz Klich responds after reported Leeds target follows Pole on Instagram
The ongoing Ben White saga at Leeds United is set to continue for a number of weeks to come.
Phil Hay of the Athletic has claimed that the young defender is keen on a move to Elland Road if he can’t agree to a new deal at the AMEX Stadium.
Leeds’ chief executive Angus Kinnear also admitted that the Whites won’t pursue the loan star forever, and have a list of alternatives.
One of those options is Robin Koch. The Freiburg defender could be available for as little as £12million in the summer according to the Telegraph – much cheaper than White.
The 24-year-old has made two appearances for Germany in his career and has more of a link with Leeds as one would initially think.
An eagle-eyed Leeds fan noticed on Monday that Koch actually followed Mateusz Klich on Instagram, one of Marcelo Bielsa’s main men.
Klich responded to the fan after being questioned on his personal Twitter account, sharing they have played together before.
“Yes, in Kaiserslautern,” he wrote before adding a winking emoji.
Now, this obviously doesn’t mean anything. But, we have to admit that the emoji could prove that Klich would be more than happy to have the German international behind him next season.
What sort of player is the 24-year-old?
Koch made more clearances and blocks per game compared to White via WhoScored and was dribbled past the same amount of times despite playing against better competition.
The German also completed more shots on goal and key passes, so he could clearly fit into this Bielsa style of play at Elland Road.
We would welcome the German enforcer to Elland Road with open arms if we can’t get a deal for White over the line – and so, apparently, would Klich.
