Mateusz Klich Leeds United exit could give green light for George Hall deal amid £15m development

Mateusz Klich is closing in on his Leeds United exit and that could allow the Whites to seal a January deal for Birmingham’s 18-year-old sensation George Hall.

MLS Soccer revealed (22 December) the 32-year-old is close to sealing a move for DC United after being starved of game time in West Yorkshire. However, The Mirror suggest (23 Dec, page 52) that Jesse Marsch is trying to “scupper” the deal, with the American reluctant to lose Klich.

It’s clear the midfielder wants to head to pastures new and it’s a wish that Leeds should grant. However, if he does depart, the Whites could look to move ahead with their reported move for Hall. The Mirror also revealed(23 December, Page 52) that Leeds are looking to seal a deal for Hall with a £15million fee mooted.

Klich’s exit is looking more and more likely and it’s hard to begrudge the midfielder from wanting to make a move elsewhere. He’s at a stage in his career where he needs to be playing first-team football regularly and sadly, that’s not going to happen at Elland Road.

The Poland international deserves the chance to be given a proper farewell from the fans, but sadly, it does feel like he will be quietly ushered out of the door in West Yorkshire. Let’s all hope he is given one last standing ovation before his potential departure does take place.

However, if he does leave, Leeds fans should keep a keen eye on developments surrounding Hall’s future, with Klich’s exit a potential catalyst for a deal to be struck.
