Mateusz Bogusz forced to fly to Canada as work permit issues emerge after Leeds United
Mateusz Bogusz has been forced to fly to Canada to resolve a work permit issue after completing his Leeds United departure.
Bogusz, 21, sealed his Elland Road exit on Friday 31 March after seeing his loan spell with UD Ibiza cut short in order for him to join LAFC.
However, the Polish midfielder has since revealed he is unable to play for his new side at present as he still awaiting his VISA.

“I can’t play yet. I have to get my visa first. I am going to Canada for this,” said Bogusz (interview with Przegladsportowy, 6 April).
“I have to fly to another country where there is an American consulate and settle this matter there. I might as well go to Warsaw, but the flight takes 12 hours, so it’s pointless.
“The closest consulates to Los Angeles are Canada and Mexico, I chose Canada.
“The procedures may take about two more weeks, but it is difficult for me to say exactly when I will be able to play.”
Can’t all succeed
For one reason or another, Bogusz’s time at Leeds United just didn’t work out. The midfielder’s loan spell at UD Ibiza didn’t aid his development and he’s at a crucial age where he needs to be playing regularly. Despite, this slight work permit mishap, he will see more opportunities with the MLS side and is probably in a better environment to succeed.
From Leeds’ perspective, there has to be an acceptance that younger players do come with an element of risk. They’re not all going to break into the first team and it’s about knowing when to cut losses on a potential prospect.

There have been plenty of success stories in recent times, with Cysencio Summerville, Willy Gnonto, Sonny Perkins and Mateo Joseph all having an impact during the 2022/23 season.
Victor Orta and the board have recruited extremely heavily in the 18 to 21 age bracket and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see one or two more players picked up during the summer window.
In other Leeds United news, the club are about to spend six figures to land an attacking signing ahead of a host of big rivals.
