Mateo Joseph shares what he wants to do at Leeds after his Spain U21s hat-trick

Mateo Joseph has shared his number one target is for Leeds United to gain promotion this season after his hat-trick for Spain U21s in the 4-3 win against Kazakhstan.

The 20-year-old scored all three goals in the first half on Thursday [10 October] at the Municipal Stadium in the U21 Euro qualifier, his first professional hat-trick.

Joseph put his international milestone to one side when addressing Spanish media post-match as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post [11 October] and revealed his main priority with Leeds this season.

He said: “Very happy to represent my country, I have always wanted to be here. My goal is to do the best I can with Leeds, to get promoted, which is where the club deserves to be.”

Mateo Joseph can fire Leeds United to the Premier League

The Spaniard can consider his message to Daniel Farke loud and received as he showed the Leeds boss exactly what he is capable of.

Joel Piroe replaced Joseph in the starting lineup for the 3-3 draw against Sunderland and the Dutchman rewarded the faith bestowed upon him by the boss with a goal at the Stadium of Light.

Farke now has one of the best headaches in football deciding who of the two forward options will lead the line for the Whites after the international break and for now it is one point to Joseph.

Piroe is currently leading the goalscoring charts in West Yorkshire with four goals compared to Joseph’s one goal, but should the latter take his international form back to the Championship there is no doubting who the smarter choice of the two is.

However, with so much football yet to be played this season, the likelihood is the pair will share the burden at Elland Road this year and return to the top flight of English football at the end of the campaign.

With Joseph reiterating his commitment to Leeds [AS] with a potential move to Liverpool mooted, the perception of the young forward from neutrals is clear. He must build on his international display for the Whites and live up to his promising potential this season.
