Mateo Joseph sends message to Sunderland star after what he did this week

Leeds United forward Mateo Joseph was full of praise for his international teammate this week.

Leeds United managed to escape the international break with very few injury concerns, though one did emerge in the form of Willy Gnonto, who was withdrawn for the Italy Under-21 side.

Joseph himself jetted away with the Spanish Under-21 side, where they faced off against the Czech Republic and Germany, with the Leeds forward netting in the former of the two clashes.

However, he wasn’t the only Championship star away with the Spanish side, with one Sunderland star receiving a message from Joseph for his achievement during the break.

Joseph nets on international duty, Sunderland star makes debut

Having scored in the 2-2 draw against the Czech Republic, Joseph could be in line for a surprise start for Leeds when they host Swansea City at the weekend.

Similarly, Eliezer Mayenda will take momentum from the break himself back to Sunderland, having made his Spain Under-21 debut after his impressive campaign on Wearside.

Spain have two bright attacking prospects playing in the Championship.

The Black Cats star took to Instagram to celebrate his debut, with a post that reads: “Happy and grateful for my debut with the Spanish Under-21 side.”

Joseph, having spent the week away with the 19-year-old, replied with two boom emojis, followed by “Mayenda is in the room”. A fitting tribute to an ever popular Vengaboys anthem.

Daniel Farke needs Joseph at his best for Leeds

Joseph has had somewhat of an indifferent campaign for Leeds, though he has shown many glimpses of quality throughout the season.

However, those glimpses will need to turn into more consistent performances as the Whites chase their return back to the Premier League.

With eight games to go, Daniel Farke will need his entire squad to hit their best form to ensure that promotion doesn’t slip away yet again as it did last season.

The Whites simply need to treat each remaining game as a cup final and find a way to return to the form that brought them plenty of success in the earlier stages of the campaign.
