Mateo Joseph makes Leeds United confession, shares if he’s happy at Elland Road
Mateo Joseph has admitted that Leeds United are a “demanding” club due to their history and huge fanbase.
Having arrived in Yorkshire almost three years ago, the striker has now settled into life at Elland Road as a first-team regular.
In an interview with The Athletic, the 20-year-old was asked if he ever feels the weight of playing for a club of Leeds’ size.
Although he did not give a direct response to the question, he said: “It’s a very demanding club.
“You can tell by the fact the stadium is full every week. Whenever there’s a game on, our fans are there.
“Whether it’s a friendly, a league game, a cup game, a tour game, a pre-season game, it’s a demanding club.
“They fight to be at the top all the time, no matter what division they are in.
“I’m very happy to be there and to be playing a lot, which is important at 20.”
Mateo Joseph on the rise at Leeds United
Although Joseph is still in the early stages of his career, he has already shown the Elland Road crowd what he is capable of.
He recently expressed his desire to fire the Whites to promotion and that is the sort of attitude the fans want from the club’s players.
On the flip side, however, the frontman needs to start scoring more often as he has netted only once in nine Championship games this season.
He could soon be on his way to make things right, having scored a hat-trick in Spain Under-21s’ 4-3 win against Kazakhstan over the international break.

If everything goes to plan, Joseph could lead the line for the Yorkshire-based club for years to come, with his contract running until 2028.
Earning promotion will be important if the Whites want to retain his services as clubs will no doubt be interested in signing him in the upcoming transfer windows.
Daniel Farke has already expressed concerns about potentially losing the Spaniard in January.
In other Leeds United news, the staff at the club have blocked a free transfer deal, according to sources.
