The Frenchman has reportedly suffered a recurrence of the hamstring injury that he picked up after first arriving at the club.
All signs were looking positive for Augustin, who had followed Marcelo Bielsa’s regime and finally gotten up to speed with the rest of the squad during the break.
The Athletic’s Phil Hay has reported on Friday that it is highly unlikely that the 22-year-old will play again in the Championship this season.
It’s a massive blow for the Whites, who on paper now only have Patrick Bamford as their only out-and-out striker at Elland Road.
