Martin Tyler and Gary Neville share ‘huge’ transfer issue for Leeds United

Martin Tyler and Gary Neville have outlined a ‘huge’ problem for Leeds United during their crunch Premier League clash against Manchester United.

Despite needing reinforcement in January, with Marcelo Bielsa continuously battling injury and covid absences, the club didn’t invest.

As the camera panned to the Whites’ injured players watching on at Elland Road the duo were quick to point out why their squad remains so thin.

“They haven’t really got a huge benefactor in the style of the super-rich,” Martin Tyler said on Leeds’ lack of signings in January amid their injury crisis live on Sky Sports Premier League.

Neville agreed: “No, I am not sure the money is there although I’m not sure Bielsa is the type that would just rush in either.

“There is a certain type of player that he needs.”

Not the worst

The most annoying thing is Leeds aren’t as desperate for signings as many people may think.

Now that’s not to say the squad couldn’t do with some fresh faces and being bolstered in area’s but this season has been like no other in terms of injuries and covid.

It would be very difficult to find a season similar to this one in terms of the sheer volume of injuries Leeds have faced.

Even more devastatingly, the long-term injuries to crucial players for Bielase and the intense, attacking system he plays such as Patrick Bamford and Kalvin Phillips – the list could go on.

That before considering the threat of covid that has plagued every single Premier League team, including the Whites.

However, this season should serve as somewhat of a wakeup call for the owners that there is room for more competition amongst places within the squad and players who can maintain the high levels set by the starters when they are absent.
