Mark Viduka opens up on Leeds United trend that he wants to see football follow
Leeds legend Mark Viduka has been impressed by one aspect of the Whites’ recent turnaround.
Daniel Farke has put Leeds in a great position to survive in the Premier League, with two wins and two draws from their last four matches.
Leeds face fellow promoted side Sunderland, looking to continue the party atmosphere, and go even further ahead of the relegation zone.
Viduka believes that more teams could benefit from watching the LS11 outfit and copying what they have done.
What has Viduka seen from Leeds lately?
Viduka, who scored 72 goals in 166 appearances for the Elland Road outfit, believes that teams should adopt the approach that his former side has gone with lately.
Farke has opted to utilise two strikers, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin thriving after a poor start to his Whites career, with six goals in his last five games, and the Australian hitman is loving it.
Speaking on talkSPORT on 28 December, he said: “I’m happy that he [Farke] has used the two upfront, I’d like to see more of that in football in general.”
Why Leeds approach should work again vs Sunderland
Farke will fancy the approach to work against the Black Cats, as his side has scored 13 goals in their last five matches.
They notched four goals against Crystal Palace, three against Chelsea and Liverpool, two against Manchester City and one against Brentford.
They are some of the top teams in the division, so the strategy clearly works, rather than just being effective against smaller teams.
With Lukas Nmecha potentially back in contention to feature after missing the last few matches, that could make the Peacocks even more potent when they head to the Stadium of Light.
It would be a real statement if the Yorkshiremen could get over on their fellow promoted side, given how much Regis Le Bris’ side has exceeded expectations so far this season.
The Whites cannot stop scoring, and Viduka and Farke will hope that continues against the Mackems on Sunday afternoon, with the two-striker system unlikely to go away anytime soon.
It has revolutionised the Whites’ campaign, and maybe more teams will look to use it, as Viduka hopes, if it continues to show results for Farke’s team.
