Mark Lawrenson predicts winner in Leeds clash v Southampton
Mark Lawrenson has backed Leeds United to pick up another three points in their Premier League clash with Southampton on Tuesday.
The BBC pundit has predicted that it will finish 2-0 to the Whites on the south coast, backing up impressive wins over Burnley and Spurs.
Marcelo Bielsa has delivered an update on his squad today, with Robin Koch and Mateusz Klich ruled out for the final two games.
Writing in his BBC predictions column, Lawrenson backed the Whites to continue their winning steak at St Mary’s.
“Leeds put on a masterclass against Burnley on Saturday and they are flying at the moment,” he said.
“They are becoming a really good side, and are very difficult to play against. Like everyone else, Southampton will be glad to have fans back at St Mary’s Stadium but I don’t think they would have picked Leeds to be the visitors.
“I’ve been impressed by Nathan Tella for Saints, but Danny Ings is not fit enough to play 90 minutes yet and they are not the same side without him.”
Finish with a bang.
Leeds would finish on the highest points total of any promoted side should they win their final two games of the season.
The Whites have put all aspects of the game together in recent months, and their newfound defensive toughness has made them nearly impossible to face.
Burnley found that out the hard way at Turf Moor over the weekend, and Southampton could be next on the chopping block.
After coming to terms with a fast start by the Saints in the reverse fixture, the likes of Raphinha and Patrick Bamford took over and won the game with ease.
St Mary’s will finally have fans back in the arena tomorrow, and it is just a massive shame that the Whites are coming to spoil the party.
